Washed USB Drive.

DO NOT PUT A USB DRIVE IN A MICROWAVE OVEN TO DRY IT!

USB flash drives are very durable and can generally survive being washed. What will destroy a USB Flash Drive is using it when it is not completely dry inside and out. To make your drive useable you need to make sure all of the moisture from inside of the USB drive has totally evaporated before using it.

If you have washed your usb drive do this:

Take any protective caps off of the drive. Put the drive in a gym sock and put it in the dryer with a load. Set the dryer to it’s normal dry temperature (not high) and use fabric softner to eliminate static. After you have dried it you can use a handheld hair dryer set to low to make sure any remaining moisture inside of the drive has evaporated. You may also want to set it in a warm place for a day (a heating vent or sunny window) before using it.

The key here is to make sure the USB flash drive is completely dry inside and out BEFORE using it.
This also works with digital camera memory cards.
