Backups: Don’t make this mistake.

If you run backups of important files everyone who uses the data files being backed up should exit any programs that use those files before the backup starts. If you don’t do this you risk having the backup program skip files that it cannot access because a program has them locked and thus not back them up.

It is, in general, not a good practice for people to leave important applications running when they leave for the day, to do so courts disaster if you ever need to restore that applications files from a backup.
